According to Nahavandi there are five inter-dependent leadership principles:
1. Guiding that involves
- Define “simple rules” that provide empowered direction for the organisation.
- Advocate and model the fundamental values of the organisation.
- Set challenging objectives that inject new pace and enthusiasm.
2. Inquiring that involves
- Ask questions. Find out what is happening in and around the organisation.
- Explore ideas and possibilities by creating opportunities for the open exchange and development of ideas.
- Support relationship building in and beyond the organisation.
