1(i) What is the chapter number of the Civil Procedure Act 1997 ?



I answered this question by using manual research methods. Local libraries can sometimes have a law library, however, they can be very small and have limited resources. So in order to locate the chapter number of the Civil Procedure Act 1997, I chose to use the University Law Library, this has quite an extensive amount of material in which to research. The law library can be quite daunting, but once you have found your way around it is not so.

It is firstly necessary to locate the actual statute itself in order to find out the chapter number. I attempted to look in Halsburys statutes under the entitled ‘Civil’ chapter, to purely quick reference to see if it could be located there. I was unable to find it there however, so I then looked in the ‘Halsburys Tables of Statutes & Consolidated Index 2002-2003’. This is set out alphabetically.
