LAW

As James Madison pointed out, the very definition of tyranny is to give all consuming powers to a certain group or individual. This statement made by Madison is testament to the safeguards that have been put in place by constitutions such as the UK constitution and the US constitution; they have been put in place to protect against the abuse of power or even “tyranny.” Proof to the safeguards is the separation of the powers, legislative, executive and judiciary. Democracy is at risk if the separation of powers is not exercised.
