LAdy mAcbeth Suicide Letter

March 3, 1609

Dearest Macbeth,

These last few months have been very unhappy ones for me. The actions you and I have taken had an effect on my conscience, and I am finding it very hard to deal with. I now realize that the direction we had chosen was the wrong one, and even though I had taken that direction from the beginning, I felt that the consequences for our actions and the mental suffering that I am experiencing now, were unthinkable at that point in time.
It isn’t the actions that we have taken I’m afraid of, it is the fear that my ambition to act on the witches prophecies was to be our downfall. The idea of you being king was so great that I lost touch with my “little voice” that was inside of me. When I came up with the idea of killing the king, I now know you were undecided on acting, but I just had to have my ambition fulfilled.
