Lady MacBeth

In great Literature, Authors to develop their characters through examples in the text, instead of just stating their traits. Writers do this so that the reader feels closer to the characters and so that the character seems realistic. In William Shakespeare’s MacBeth, Shakespeare does a great job of establishing Lady MacBeth, one of the main characters, by demonstrating how she is ruthless, deceiving, and is devoid of a conscience.
“I have given suck, and know how tender ‘tis to love the babe that milks me. I would, while it was smiling in my face, have plucked my nipple from his boneless gums and dashed the brains out, had I so sworn as you have done to this.” (Act 1. sc.7, Lines 62-67) These harsh words, uttered by Lady MacBeth are a true example of her ruthlessness.
