Labeling others as deviant

1. What is the problem that Becker sees? This is not a problem merely in our society, but every society faces it, especially those that value diversity.

The problem Becker sees is labeling people as deviant creates an outsider group. While the people who are labeling the deviants see them as breaking some rule or law, the person committing the offense may not think the law or rule applies to them. Laws are not universally agreed on, so labeling someone as deviant is not fair...
