Tom Jericho, a great World War II cryptanalyst, has suffered a
nervous break down after cracking one of the most difficult codes used
in the war. After a b reif rest, he is called back to Bletchley Park,
the British center of code breaking, in order to resolve the mystery
he had once deciphered.

Jericho had solved the infamous Enigma code used by the Germans.
This was a machine that encoded messages about different happenings in
the war, such as in structions for the Luftwaffe or Rommel's forces in
Africa. More importantly fo r Jericho, the Enigma code Shark was
the code used for German U-boats. Thes e U-boats had destroyed
countless convoys of important cargo and munitions tryi ng to get to
Britian. The difficulty with Shark was that the Enigma machine used
a four rotor system instead of a three rotor system, making it
mathematica lly far more difficult to solve. Once the group at
