King Henry 8

Henry VIII was an extraordinary ruler of his time. He made great

things happen while he was King. He was born in 1491 the second son of

Henry VII and Elizabeth of York. Henry became King in 1502, when his

brother Author died. The significance of his reign is sometimes

overshadowed by his six marriages. The court life initiated by his father

evolved into a cornerstone of government in his reign. The 1530’s saw

witnessed Henry’s growing involvement in government, and a series of

events which greatly altered England.

King Henry VIII was married six times during reign. First, he was

married to Catherine of Aragon, the widow of his brother, for twenty-four
