Karmen Gei is Joseph Gai Ramaka’s adaptation of the opera Karmen by Bizet. It was made in Senegal in 2001.
Karmen is a gypsy who is dancing one night and seduces her jailer, Angelique. Because of this seduction Karmen is let out of jail. Later, Karmen out dances a woman and seduces the man the woman loves—Lamine. Karmen is then arrested again and Lamine is asked to take her to jail, but he lets her go.
