Julius Caesar

“Even you, Brutus?” muttered a dying Caesar before his lifeless body fell to the

ground in a deafening thump. Caesar, the “citizen’s king,” has just been stabbed to death

by an entourage of conspirators, including a supposed ‘best friend’. The historical play

Julius Caesar by legendary playwright William Shakespeare combines loyalty with

ultimate deception and distrust. The play, based on a true story, recounts the story of one

Julius Caesar, who has just returned to Rome in triumph after defeating his arch rival

Pompey the Great in Spain. Caesar is a favorite of the people as opposed to Pompey, who

was a leader of the Senate. Many people in the Senate fear Caesar’s power over the

people. Two in particular, Flavius and Marullus, scold the people for having so quickly

forgotten Pompey’s triumphs. The number of people objecting Caesar’s rise to power

only increases, until one day, two men, Cassius and Caesar’...
