Mother vs. Daughter

In the book the Joy Luck Club, by Amy Tan, there are many relationship issues described. It shows the relationship between mothers and daughters, daughters- in- law and mothers- in- law, and also lack of communication between spouses in marriages. The main issue that goes on in this book would be the relationship between a mother and her daughter. In many cases in America, daughters and mothers rarely get along, so the relationship diversity with the Chinese culture is very much the same.

In the first few chapters Amy Tan writes about what the mothers went through on the journey to America and why living as a Chinese woman was so bad.
