John Walls impressed me with his surprisingly free speech. I was expecting a rather dry individual; concerned more with his public image than actually making an impact with his visit. He handled most questions with assurance and gracefully sidestepped others. Overall, it was a pleasure to sit back and listen to some stories that all revolved around the central theme of ethics. Surely, as a journalist, the topic is often dealt with and sometimes breached in the worst of ways. The constant dilemma one faces in the industry is one of success (ratings) or conscience.
John spoke of the “leanings” of various news programs – CNN being decidedly more liberal and FOX leaning more to the right of scale and considered to be conservative. With Sponsorship deals (money comes and goes) these news stations inevitably have to answer to somebody. It must be...
