A tragic hero is a refreshing change from the classic “superman” type. The tragic hero is a normal person with flaws who is put in an extraordinary situation. In The Crucible John Proctor is the epitome of a tragic hero. He has made some mistakes in his past but ultimately contains “goodness” which he shows in his final decision.
