John Proctor

John Proctor was one of the main characters in Arthur Miller’s play The Crucible. In his mid thirties, proctor lives in Salem, Mass with his wife and 3 sons working as a farmer on his 300 Acers. John can be considered the drama’s tragic hero because he exhibited courage and strength through out the play from his quiet life to his untimely tragic death. John being the tragic hero of the story has certain distinctiveness: he put others he loves in front of himself, people can relate themselves to, and he dies at the end.
