Society today has been formed by the people of yesterday. “Those who don’t learn from mistakes in the past are doomed to repeat them in the future. There fore we should keep teaching the novel Huck Finn; because we are learning about our “original sin."
There are many examples of when this novel refers to African-Americans as "Niger’s." "Niger’s would come from all around there and give Jim anything they had . . ." People also frown down upon this novel because they say that Mark Twain makes the Black race look sub-human. Loretta Green’s has very strong feelings about this novel. She understands the message it puts out and she says that it isn’t worth the pain. She is stating that we have over looked the African-Americans’ feelings. She is very right with her point of view, however she is forgetting one thing, and that is that; “Those who don’t learn from mistakes in the past are doomed to repeat them in the futur...
