Jet Airways – How she came to rule the Indian Skies and what's beyond!

INTRODUCTION

In 1953, a new dream took shape - to air-link the vast South Asian subcontinent by a single, modern, and efficient airline. The then Airline was Indian Airlines. It has many firsts to its credit, including introduction of the wide-bodied A300 aircraft on the domestic network, the fly-by-wire A320, Domestic Shuttle Service and Walk-in Flights. Its unique orange and white logo emblazoned on the tails of all its aircraft is perhaps the most widely recognized Indian brand symbol that has, over the years, become synonymous with service, efficiency and reliability.

It is a known fact that between the years 1953 and 1993, Indian Airlines enjoyed monopoly in the airline industry market. However, as compared to the service the company provides today, their standard then, was not very high. Moreover, there were not many schemes that they offered as promotional methods to lure the consumers to select their service out of the other service providers of the time.
