Japan: Land of the Rising Sun

Japan is a country in Eastern Asia that first started out as people who were hunters and gatherers. Then came into rice cultivation during the Yayoi Period. Later, Prince Shotoku founded the constitution of Japan in 1889 during the Meiji Era. During the Kamakura Period Japan was ruled by the Samurais, or the warrior class. Then became the center of an empire that included Taiwan, Korea, Manchuria, most of eastern China, southern Sakhalin, and the Marshall and Mariana Islands in the Pacific. Then in 1941, Japan bombed Pearl Harbor in Hawaii, which started the Pacific War. To take revenge the United States dropped the first atomic bomb on Japan in the city of Hiroshima and then dropped another one in Nagasaki. In 1945, Japan surrendered to the United States.
