Izzy, Willy Nilly chapter analysis

Chapter 2

Izzy is remembering how she ended up in the hospital. She remembers, first of all, that Marco, a senior, asked her out to the football team’s post game party. She remembers not liking him all that much but accepts nonetheless. Anyhow, while at the party, being the only sophomore there, Izzy has a good time. After realizing the time, however, she tells Marco to take her home. Marco, who was highly intoxicated, was reluctant to leave but finally gave in. As they were driving home, Marco lost control and crashed into a tree. He survived with only a few scratches.
Here again I express no sympathy for Izzy. She knew of Marco’s condition yet still decided to make him drive her home. She was offered a ride from someone else too,
but out of shyness (I presume), she refused. She clearly had poor judgment here, and I don’t, I can’t actually, understand why she couldn’t see what was coming ridi...
