It is often necessary, even desirable, for political leaders to withhold information from the public.

Political leaders and Governments always tend to increase their power as is seen throughout the history. So in my opinion it may be necessary in some situations for political leaders to withhold information from the public. A very important factor is the judgement that which situation requires such withold of information. It is never desirable that the information is witholded by the political leaders from the public.
