It Happened by Magic

AGE TWO:
A small scrawny child with black hair and brilliant blue eyes looked up to the towering figure dangling two joined rings. In the blink of an eye the rings were severed. Next came cards – red and black with minute pictures on them. The cards were shuffled and revealed to the people watching in earnest. The child cooed and laughed as the old figure with a white beard made the cards disappear. The infant was hoisted up, and put on the old man’s knee. It gurgled and chuckled. The man put his hand behind the crowing baby’s ear and pulled out a small piece of chocolate. He handed it to the baby and smiled.

When I was younger, I was always told that I had a keen interest in magic. Everyone used to say that I would do something special with my life. I would be a success. They also told me that whenever the chance to act was present, I would seize it.
