According to people.biola.edu/faculty/paulp/spare_the_rod.htm, they have

set guidelines for disciplinary spanking. Dr. Den Trumball advises that if a child

has not behaved after verbal correction or time-out, then spanking is an effective

method for the child who refuses to obey his parents. He says that a parent should

not spank the child for revenge, but by love for the purpose of wanting the child

to learn that he has done wrong. He believes spanking is not necessary and

inappropriate before 15 months of age and after 10 years of age, and should

always be planned, not a reaction. Also, spanking should never cause injury and

should never be done in public to avoid humiliation. According to religious
