Is Capital Punishment the right thing to do?

Capital punishment has been proven to be an effective way of dealing with criminals, and that is why the majority of people in the United States prefer it. Capital punishment has a purpose of warning future criminals or serving as a deterrent so they will avoid committing any crime.
The people against capital punishment say that the right to life should be respected. They also say that most of the people sentenced to the capital punishment are poor or from low-income families, so they do not have the opportunity to pay for a good lawyer, who would provide a competent defense for a fair trial.
