Ira dryfuss summary

In Ira Dryfuss’ essay, “Boys and girls view risk differently, study finds”, Dryfuss discusses the studies of two different researchers and their findings on how children view risks based on gender.
Professor Morrongiello of University of Guelph in Ontario looked at risk assessments among 290 Ontario schoolchildren, ages 6-10. The studies showed that boys were less likely to see an injury as severe and caused by bad luck, while girls would simply avoid the situation if any potential for injury was present.
