Introduction to Mobile Systems

Lab 1 report

In this lab session which was our first lab session we learned about some of the equipment that we would be using for our lab work for this module, these equipment were:

1. Oscilloscope
2. Function Generator
3. BNC lead

Oscilloscope: The oscilloscope is basically a graph-displaying device - it draws a graph of an electrical signal. In most applications the graph shows how signals change over time: the vertical (Y) axis represents voltage and the horizontal (X) axis represents time. The intensity or brightness of the display is sometimes called the Z-axis. This simple graph (created by Oscilloscope) can tell us many things about a signal. Such as:
· We can determine the time and voltage values of a signal.
· We can calculate the frequency of an oscillating signal.
· We can see the "moving parts" of a circuit represented by the signal.
· We can tell if a malfunctioning component is distorting...
