Internet growth

The idea of the Internet began to be used in the USA by the 1960´s. It was collaboration between the military facilities and universities round the USA.
The Internet is growing very fast and it is estimated that by the year 2010 nearly everyone in developed countries will be connected.
The advantages
· Most people want to be able to send and receive messages by electronic mail. Everyone on the Internet has a unique e -mail address and, once connected, you can communicate with him or her. Sitting at your computer in Stockholm you can talk to people in the United States, South Africa or Australia and get a reply within a few minutes for the price of local phone call.
· It also offers you the opportunity to participate in discussion forums, called Usenet newsgroups on thousands of topics.
· You have access to limitless archives, libraries and news services and it can provide you with more information than you could ever possibly need, want or conceive of.
