Title: Harmful effects of tobacco

Purpose: To explain the harmful effects of tobacco on the human body

Central Idea: Explain effects of second hand smoke and the impact of smoke on the
Lungs and heart.

Intro:
Tobacco smoking has long been recognized as a major cause of death and disease. According to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, tobacco is responsible for an estimated 434,000 deaths per year in the United States. The American Public Health Service states that smoking kills more people than AIDS, alcohol, drug abuse, car crashes, and fires combined. After the Environmental Protection Agency and the Surgeon General stated that cigarettes cause lung cancer there was a big movement to make cigarettes illegal. In my speech I will describe the effects of second hand smoke and in addition I will describe the impact of tabacco smoke on the lungs and heart.
