Infidelity in The Once and Future King

All literary works can be analyzed through certain aspects. Theme, style, and setting are just a few examples. In The Once and Future King, by T.H. White, all of these play a role in analysis. However, style and setting are overshadowed by the amount of dominant themes that appear in the complicated plot of the novel. The story of the life of King Arthur begins when he is a young boy and ends right after his death. In Books III and IV, the romance between Queen Guinevere and Sir Lancelot begins to intensify. The affair of Guinevere and Lancelot adds forbidden passion and the main theme of “Infidelity” to the plot. In the novel, The Once and Future King, the main theme of “Infidelity” is displayed throughout the relationships of the following characters: Guinevere and Lancelot.
