Indelible

Indelible: something that cannot be removed or erased, something unforgettable and memorable. Ephemeral: lasting a very short time, temporary. Indelible Ephemeral: something that can’t be measured or defined because of its brief passing, yet forever remembered. Dominique Dupuy, a French choreographer was the first to term modern dance as “the indelible ephemeral.” This would be an accurate description of modern dance, if there were ever a single definition.
Modern dance is something that one witnesses, and subsequently departs with an impression made within them which will be forever lasting. Many choreographers want their works to make an effect on the observer. Some want more than just an effect, they want remembrance. A good example of this is through the works of Pina Bausch.
