Importance of the full moon

This article is discussing the importance of the full moon, which occurred Saturday, September 21. This is known as the “Harvest Moon” because it is the full moon that happens to be closest to the autumnal Equinox. This occurs in the Northern Hemisphere and happens once every three years. The difference between this full moon and others, and why its called the harvest moon, is because farmers can work late into the night by the moons light, because of how it rises as the sun sets. On average the moon rises 50 minutes later each day, but during this time of year it appears to rise around the same time each night. On average from night to night the change in time is about 23 minutes and you will find that the farther north you are the smaller the amount of time.
