If you were president

My ambassador from a South American country has just informed me that revolutionaries have just taken over the capital city. I am feeling pressure to immediately send in the marines and resolve this problem using military force. As commander and chief I feel it is my responsibility to take all my options into consideration and not act hastily. It is very important that I make a decision based on my knowledge and best judgment while taking into account the opinions of my advisors and colleagues.
My first thought when looking at the situation is that I am strongly against throwing the marines into a hostile situation without taking other, more civil, measures to resolve the issue. With 200 of our American citizens in harms way, the fastest way to get them out is with an evacuation by our military, but that could cause hostilities to arise.
