The Canadian English Dictionary defines satire as “a foolish person held up to ridicule”. The movie ‘Tampopo’ uses satire towards Tampopo by making fun of her being a chef in the world of male chefs. She felt that she must be the same as them and worked very hard to make sure that her quality of cooking did not waver. Food is more than that. It’s differences are what make it interesting. You always hear people discussing their meals at different restaurants. It would be very uninteresting if everyone’s spaghetti was the same, no matter which restaurant they ate at. The chef should show their own personality, their own self, through their cooking.
