1.1 Automation Blueprint
IBM released the much-anticipated guidelines for automated computing
systems, which describe how companies can make hardware and software
more self-managing. This relates to IBM’s ‘autonomic computing’ initiative
which promotes the concept of systems requiring minimal manual
intervention to operate. IBM is hoping to increase interest in autonomic
computing and encourage the development of related standards. To date,
‘autonomic computing’ has been promoted, in varying degrees, across the
DB2, Tivoli and WebSphere product lines.
