Police are searching for a Montreal hospital president reported missing after allegations surfaced that an audio recording caught staff abusing a handicapped patient.

Montreal police spokesperson Laurent Gingras told The Canadian Press that officers have been investigating Leon Lafleur's disappearance since he was reported missing by his family early Tuesday.

Lafleur was last seen about 6:45 a.m. near the St-Charles Borromee Hospital, Gingras said, the same day the family of a patient who was allegedly abused at the facility went public with their story.

One of the sisters of the 51-year-old hospital patient, Lorraine, told a Montreal all-news channel on Wednesday that she doesn't regret speaking out about the incidents recorded at the hospital.

"It's sad to see the turn of events,'' she told LCN. "That wasn't the goal."
