Huck

In the novel, one of the main issues that Huck deals with is Slavery. He is torn as to whether or not he should turn in His Negro friend, Jim. Over the course of their travel down the Mississippi river, Jim and Huck become close friends. At first Huck played all kinds of games on Jim. Like the time when they got separated from each other in the fog and Huck plays a game on him. When Huck finally finds Jim, he lays beneath him while Jim is asleep and pretends he was asleep too. Then he says to Jim, “Hello, Jim, have I been asleep? Why didn’t you stir me up?” And Jim says in return, “Goodness gracious, is dat you , Huck? En you ain’dead-you ain’t drownded-you’s back ag’in?…” Jim goes on to say how happy he is and how scared he was the Huck had dies.
