Huck Fin

Critical Review



The book I read was Huckleberry Finn. “Huck Finn is a timeless, universal adventure story and a brilliant comic novel that tests the tolerable limits of humor and irony.” (Pg. viii) The book has lots of dialect, which makes it hard to read. But the story is well written and has lots of adventure.
The main characters are Huck, Jim, the Widow, and Huck’s father. Huck is the hero and he is also the narrator. He is the son of the town drunk. He was born in the lowest level of society. He also steals and lies. He makes fun of friends, and ridicules work, and church. He also has a good heart. He is genuinely good to everyone. He didn’t want to hurt anyone.
Jim was a fugitive slave who knew Huck. Jim was not book smart but he was street smart. He was also very superstitious. He was also very stubborn and you could never change his mind about anything. Jim also felt that he and Huck were equal. He also felt grat...
