This priceless antique self-help book was originally published in 1937 in an edition of only 5000 copies. Although considered a modest sale for its day, it turned into an overnight success and eventually sold over fifteen million copies worldwide. In 1981, under the direction of the authors’ wife Dorothy Carnegie, the original version was revised to “clarify and strengthen the book for the modern reader”, but it did not alter the original content. It simply updated certain examples and phrases that today would seem quaint and outdated as a Victorian novel. This is the version that I have had the pleasure of reading for this review.
“How to Win Friends and Influence People”, is today selling two hundred thousand copies a year and is just as useful in today’s society.
