How to Simplify the Unified Tax Code

What would I do to simplify the tax code? Our current tax code is a mess. It is filled with provisions that are complicated, confusing and contradictory. For example, the child tax credit – Every person knows what a child is; yet the tax code defines a child in five different ways. This is the sort of thing that makes tax forms a nightmare to fill out.
