Light switches are used to cut power on or off to a light or a receptacle. They usually are white or ivory depending on the color you prefer. They have a set of contacts in them that connect together across from one another to form a complete circuit. Light switches are very inexpensive, but very vital to every day life.

Safety is a very important issue when it comes to handling electricity. First, you must make sure all power is off to the designated light switch you are changing.
