A victim of domestic abuse may seek relief under the provisions of the Protection of Domestic Abuse Act. Domestic abuse is any act of physical harm or a threat of imminent physical harm that is committed by an adult, emancipated minor or minor child thirteen years of age or older against another adult, emancipated minor or minor child who are family or household members or who are or who were in a dating relationship. If the person is a victim of assault and battery, stalking, kidnapping, harassment or threatening phone calls, forced sexual activity, or destruction of personal property they may file for a protective order.
