How to End World Poverty and Hunger

Extreme poverty and hunger has declined slowly in the 1990’s and 2000’s: the share of
the population living on less than $1 a day fell from 28% in 1987 to 23% in 1998. In all,
the number of poor people remained constant as the population has been rising. Yes, this
is a start on ending world hunger and poverty, but as you can see, it is not enough. Still,
for example, in East Asia, 267.1 million people are living on just $1 a day. In
