How the television and all media shape our culture.

Theory is an example of how or why the media affects human behavior. Each viewer has a different reaction to the way media is presented. There are thirteen different theories presented in class. The ones I have applied are Cultivation Theory and Imitation Theory.
Cultivation Theory is the way that the television and all media shape our culture over a period of time. A great example of how media shapes our view of culture is the portrayal of women. Magazines, television, Barbie dolls, and advertisements all portray what the ideal women should look like. This sometimes gives people the wrong impression.
Men see beautiful skinny muscular women and expect their girlfriend to be of the same nature. They ogle over women and dream that girls should be of this nature, if you’re not then some men don’t want anything to do with you. No matter where you look in magazines today they are covered from front to back with women in sexual poses or outfits that show a lot of skin. Women ...
