How E-mail Works

How many here either have a computer at home or use one at work? Okay, now let me ask another question, what does AOL, Microsoft outlook and packets all have in common? Anyone? If you haven’t figured it out by now then let me enlighten you, all these things have one common bond, electronic mail, or E-mail for short. It is apparent that E-mail plays a major role in our everyday lives, and to think if you were to ask the normal day-to-day user of E-mail where in fact E-mail came from you would probably get a quick response of, “Bill Gates”, which by no means is a bad answer, funny maybe, but incorrect none the less. Now how about asking that same person “how does e-mail work”, you might get the following reply, “I type a text message and then click send”, again not a bad answer, but there is much more to it then that. So, let me begin today by sharing with you all a brief history of e-mail.
