How clear a picture of events in Britain, and Roman policy to Britain can be detected from the sources from the period 54BC – 43AD?

Many changes were made in the period 54BC-43AD, but we have very little literary evidence to form a clear picture of the events which took place in the period
We have Caesars own accounts to operate from, as he launched his second invasion of Britain in 54BC. His intentions for this second invasion appear to be very much the same as the reasons for his first attempt, to gain popularity in Rome for his expansionist, patriotic policies. It appears that Caesars intentions were never to conquer the island, as very little was known about Britain and its inhabitants, thought it is thought that he went to Britain for another reason, and that is to relieve the pressure which he brought upon himself by attacking tribes across the Rhine. This incident would have sent his reputation tumbling down if he had not redeemed himself by taking Rome’s attention to Britain.
