Synopsis
Definition of Problem
The hotel industry as a whole faces a unique problem; the final product of each individual hotel is very similar. This problem creates a challenge for every individual hotel to differentiate not only their final product, but also their overall image. This must be done in order to set their product apart from the competition and give the consumer a reason to choose their hotel. Once the consumer has decided to spend their hard earned dollar, it is up to the hotel to live up to their promise, to the consumers expectations, and to the standards set out by the governing hotel chain. Ultimately, if the consumer is satisfied on a consistent basis, they will become loyal patrons and continue to return.
Similar to other hotel chains, the Hampton Inn is not immune to this problem and is always looking for ways to increase their profit and expand their market.
