Homer’s ideals of life and society differ from the views of today. In the present, people look upon men and women as equal for the most part, while in Homer’s day women were below the men in social status. The values of everyday life have changed in these many centuries. Family values have held strong. They were important to people in Homer’s time as well as to the people of today. Presently, people are becoming busier and busier with less time for their families, but these values are still held close.
