Love her or hate her, Madonna Louise Veronica Ciccone Ritchie is one of the most influential people of the eighty’s, ninety’s, and now. Madonna was born on August 19, 1958 in Bay City, Michigan. When she was 6 her mother tragically died of cancer. At age 17 Madonna was given a dance scholarship to the University of Michigan. She did not attend the university very long. Soon after entering she left Michigan and moved to New York to pursue a career in ballet dancing#. She departed with 35 dollars in her pocket and a heart full of dreams and ambition. In New York she landed a couple of pop/dace videos and ended up in a few singing groups.
She was soon recognized and in 1982 Madonna signed with Sire Records. In 1983 her first album, “Madonna” was released. Since then she has had one continuous hit after another.
