"Poof," the sound of a firework exploding on the 4th of July, every year we celebrate on this day, but do you really know why?
The Declaration of independence is why we made the 4th of July a day to celebrate. The purpose for the colonists creating this document was to unite the colonists and to separate from British rule.(1Fisher)
The declaration of independence is the historic document that the American Colonies declared their freedom from Britain.(3Rackove) The main reasons the colonists wanted to separate from Britain for freedom were the Tea Act, the Stamp Act and the Intolerable Acts which were taxes on tea, taxes on legal documents and immensely harsh punishments on the colonists.(4www. This was important because it united the colonies. It abolished the allegiance to King George III, it set our principle of democracy. (3Rackove)
