High Price of Beauty

Beauty is not free. Spending millions of dollars each year, people all over the world expend their money to look nice. Men and women buy countless beauty products, ranging from a few dollars for lipstick to even thousands of dollars for cosmetic surgery. There is a high price for beauty that many are willing to pay. Not only do good looks cost a lot of money, but with beauty comes sacrifice, uncomfort and pain.
Women endure great soreness to be beautiful. In effort to look their best, females physically harm themselves. Wanting to look nice, they “have become victims of a punishing cult of beauty” (Harbison). The motive behind their pain is in the belief that it will bring beauty. “Beauty is a conspiracy of pain forced upon women” (Harbison).
