Her Place


She knew where to turn when she saw the line of trees leading to the path. The trees had been there for as long as she could remember, probably fourteen or fifteen years, before her little brother had been born, and she when was still an only child. For a while she had been her daddy’s “little boy”, too, and this was their favorite fishing spot. This was a place she had gone over the years just to sit, think, and admire the beauty surrounding her. This hidden island was her private spot; it had been forever, and it would be for years to come.
The road to get there could only spotted by a trained eye. It had become more and more worn over the years, and she decided to borrow her husband’s truck to go down the narrow grass man-made land bridge instead of chancing her sports car.
