Richard Lindner

Richard Lindner was born in Hamburg, Germany November 11,1901. His mother was American and his father German. He was brought up in Nuremberg where he studied music at the Kunstgewerbeschule. From 1924 to 1927 he lived in Munich and studied there from 1925 to 1927 at the Kunstakademie. He became an art director for Knorr and Hirth, A publisher closely associated with the Nazis after moving to Berlin in 1928.He was forced to flee to Paris in 1933 where he became politically engaged, sought contact with French artist and earned his living as a commercial artist.
